Quick answer: To qualify for an SSS salary loan you need 36 posted contributions (for a 1-month loan) or 72 (for a 2-month loan), with 6 contributions in the last 12 months. You can borrow up to ₱20,000 (1-month) or ₱40,000 (2-month) at 8% interest per annum, payable over 24 months. Applications are filed online through My.SSS.

Are you eligible? The checklist
| Requirement | 1-month loan | 2-month loan |
|---|---|---|
| Total posted contributions | 36 | 72 |
| Recent contributions | 6 within the last 12 months | 6 within the last 12 months |
| Age | Under 65 years old | Under 65 years old |
| No final benefit granted (retirement, total disability, death) | Required | Required |
| No past-due SSS loan | Required | Required |
| Registered My.SSS account with enrolled disbursement account | Required | Required |
Check your posted contributions first with our SSS contribution inquiry guide — “posted” is what counts, not just paid.
How much can you borrow?
Your loanable amount is based on the average of your last 12 posted Monthly Salary Credits (MSCs):
- 1-month loan: 1× the average of your last 12 MSCs, up to ₱20,000
- 2-month loan: 2× the average of your last 12 MSCs, up to ₱40,000
Example: if your average MSC over the last 12 posted months is ₱15,000, your 1-month loan is ₱15,000 and your 2-month loan is ₱30,000.
Why the loan is capped at ₱20,000 MSC: contributions on MSC above ₱20,000 go to the Mandatory MySSS Pension Booster, not the regular SS fund — and the salary loan is computed from the regular SS program only. High earners do not get a bigger salary loan for the MSC portion above ₱20,000.
Interest, fees, and repayment terms
| Detail | Terms |
|---|---|
| Interest rate | 8% per annum (diminishing balance) |
| Service fee | 1% of the loan amount, deducted upfront from proceeds |
| Late payment penalty | 1% per month on unpaid amortization |
| Repayment | 24 monthly amortizations |
| First amortization | Due on the 2nd month after loan approval |
Note: if you previously availed of an SSS penalty condonation program, a different interest tier may apply to you — confirm your exact rate on sss.gov.ph or with your branch before applying.
How to apply online through My.SSS
1. Log in to member.sss.gov.ph and confirm you meet the eligibility checklist above.
2. Make sure a disbursement account (bank or e-wallet) is enrolled and active in your My.SSS profile — loan proceeds go only to an enrolled account.
3. Open the Loans section and select the salary loan application.
4. The portal will show your computed loanable amount based on your posted MSCs — review it.
5. Submit the application and note your transaction reference number.
6. Wait for approval and disbursement to your enrolled account; the first amortization falls due in the second month after approval.
Renewal rules
- You cannot hold two separate active salary loans — but you can renew.
- Renewal is allowed 6 months after your loan’s approval date, provided the loan is not past due and your last 3 amortizations were paid on time.
- A fully paid loan can be renewed immediately if the last 3 amortizations were paid on time.
- When you renew, the outstanding balance of the old loan is deducted from the new loan’s proceeds.
SSS Calamity Loan
When your area is declared under a State of Calamity, SSS opens a separate Calamity Loan window — it is not the same as the salary loan, and it is only available while the program is active for your locality.
Current 2026 program terms (per SSS’s 2026 emergency loan advisory — older guides describe different terms, so confirm the active program on sss.gov.ph):
- Loanable amount: up to ₱20,000, based on your average Monthly Salary Credit
- Interest rate: 7% per annum under the revised program guidelines (older calamity windows charged 10% — the rate depends on which program window is active)
- Repayment: 24 monthly amortizations with a 6-month repayment moratorium — you do not start paying until half a year after release
- Eligibility: reside or work in the declared calamity area, sufficient posted contributions, registered My.SSS account, no past-due SSS loans, and an enrolled disbursement account (MySSS Card, UMID ATM Pay Card, or a PESONet bank account)
How to apply: log in to My.SSS (website or mobile app), open the Loans section, and select the calamity loan option while the program is open for your area. Employed members need employer certification through the employer’s My.SSS account. The 2026 emergency program accepts applications until April 30, 2027 for members in qualifying areas — check whether your locality is covered before applying.

Troubleshooting
Application rejected despite meeting the contribution count. Confirm the contributions are posted, not merely paid — unposted payments do not count. Also check for any past-due loan or an existing active salary loan.
No disbursement account enrolled. Enroll one through the Bank Enrollment Module in My.SSS and wait for it to be verified before applying — applications cannot proceed without it.
Loan proceeds delayed. Disbursement goes only to the enrolled account; confirm the account is active and the name matches your SSS record. Follow up with your transaction reference number.
Employer-related posting gaps (employed members). If your employer failed to remit, those months do not count as posted contributions. Document the deductions from your payslips and report the employer to SSS.

How many contributions do I need for an SSS salary loan?
36 posted contributions for a 1-month loan (₱20,000 max) or 72 for a 2-month loan (₱40,000 max), plus 6 contributions within the last 12 months in both cases.
How is the SSS salary loan amount computed?
From the average of your last 12 posted Monthly Salary Credits: 1× average for the 1-month loan, 2× for the 2-month loan, capped at ₱20,000 and ₱40,000 respectively.
Can I apply for a salary loan while I have an existing one?
Not a second separate loan — but you can renew after 6 months from approval (not past due, last 3 amortizations on time), or immediately once fully paid under the same payment condition.
Why is my loanable amount lower than I expected?
The usual causes: fewer than 12 posted MSCs in the lookback, low MSC brackets, or MSC above ₱20,000 (the excess goes to the Pension Booster and does not count toward the loan).
What happens if I miss payments?
A 1% monthly penalty accrues on unpaid amortizations, and a past-due loan blocks new applications and renewals until settled.
Can voluntary or OFW members apply?
Yes — as long as you meet the posted-contribution requirements. The application is the same online process through My.SSS.
What is the SSS salary loan interest rate?
8% per annum on a diminishing balance, plus a 1% service fee deducted upfront from the loan proceeds. A 1% monthly penalty applies to unpaid amortizations. (If you previously went through an SSS penalty condonation program, a different tier may apply — confirm your exact rate on sss.gov.ph.)
