Quick Renewal (no appearance)
Eligibility — all of these must be true:
1. Your previous clearance was issued recently. Sources differ on the exact cutoff: respicio.ph (legal source) cites October 2016 onwards; several niche guides and DFA embassy pages cite 2014 onwards. The portal itself is the authority — enter your old NBI ID number and it will tell you whether you qualify.
2. Zero changes to personal data: name, date of birth, place of birth, civil status — exactly as on the old clearance.
3. No HIT on your record requiring manual verification.
4. Your old NBI ID number is retrievable (it is printed on your old clearance).
Steps:
1. Log in at clearance.nbi.gov.ph.
2. Choose Renew / Quick Renewal and enter your old NBI ID number.
3. The portal pulls your record — verify every pre-filled detail before continuing.
4. Enter your delivery address carefully (this is where the clearance ships).
5. Pay online: ~₱155 clearance fee + delivery fee (~₱200–₱350 depending on location) = roughly ₱355–₱510 total. The portal shows the exact amount before you confirm.
6. Wait for door-to-door delivery: typically 3–5 business days in Metro Manila, up to 10 business days provincial.
Why people get rejected from Quick Renewal: a surname changed after marriage, a corrected birthdate, or a HIT flag. Any of these sends you to the appointment route — which is normal, not a penalty.
Renewal with appointment (walk-in)
Use this if you do not qualify for Quick Renewal. The process mirrors a new application:
1. Register/log in at clearance.nbi.gov.ph and start a renewal application.
2. Book an appointment at your chosen branch.
3. Pay ₱155 through GCash, Maya, 7-Eleven, Bayad Center, or online banking.
4. Appear with your old clearance, reference number, payment receipt, and two valid IDs.

1. After payment, your clearance enters the print queue — usually within 1 working day.
2. You receive a tracking number by email and SMS, together with the courier’s name. Keep both.
3. Track it two ways:
- On the courier’s own website — enter the tracking number on their track-and-trace page (this gives the most detailed movement updates).
- On the NBI portal — log in, go to Transactions, open your application, and check the delivery status and expected dates.
4. Typical timelines: 2–3 working days in Metro Manila, 3–5 in Luzon provinces, 5–7 in Visayas/Mindanao — counted from when the courier picks up the clearance, not from payment.
Delivery hasn’t moved in days? First check the courier’s tracking page for holds (wrong address, no one home, area not serviceable). If the portal shows the clearance was handed to the courier but the courier has no record after 2–3 working days, follow up with NBI support through the portal — have your reference number and payment receipt ready. Make sure someone can receive the package: couriers typically attempt delivery more than once, but an undeliverable clearance goes back.
NBI clearance validity
A clearance is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. Practical notes:
