Quick answer: MP2 (Modified Pag-IBIG II) is a voluntary 5-year savings program for Pag-IBIG members. Minimum ₱500 per deposit, no required monthly amount, dividends tax-free. The declared dividend was 7.12% for 2025 (7.10% for 2024). Enroll through Virtual Pag-IBIG or any branch.

What is Pag-IBIG MP2?
MP2 is Pag-IBIG’s voluntary savings program, separate from the mandatory monthly contributions deducted from your salary. You open an MP2 account, put money in whenever you want, and Pag-IBIG invests the pooled fund. Each year the Board declares a dividend rate based on actual fund performance, and your savings earn that rate.
| Regular Pag-IBIG savings | MP2 savings | |
|---|---|---|
| Nature | Mandatory for covered members | Voluntary |
| Term | Long-term (maturity/retirement) | 5 years from first payment |
| Minimum | ₱200/month (employed) | ₱500 per deposit, no monthly requirement |
| 2025 dividend | 6.62% | 7.12% |
| Employer counterpart | Yes (for employed) | No |
| Dividends | Tax-free | Tax-free |
The key appeal: historically higher dividends than both regular Pag-IBIG savings and typical bank accounts, with government backing. The key trade-off: your money is committed for five years, and the dividend rate is declared after each year ends — it is not a guaranteed fixed rate.
Who can enroll?
You must be a Pag-IBIG member with a MID number. In practice this means active members — employed, self-employed, voluntary, and OFW members. Former members with other income, pensioners, and dual citizens may also qualify — confirm your category on Virtual Pag-IBIG before applying.
You can open multiple MP2 accounts — for example, one for a house fund maturing in 5 years and another timed for a child’s education.
How to enroll in MP2
Online via Virtual Pag-IBIG (fastest for most members):
1. Log in to your Virtual Pag-IBIG account (create one first if needed — you will need your MID, OTP-verified mobile number, and ID verification).
2. Look for the MP2 enrollment option in the savings/services menu (exact labels may vary with portal updates).
3. Fill out the enrollment details and submit. Your MP2 account number is generated.
4. Make your first payment — this is important: the 5-year maturity is counted from the date of your first payment, not the date the account number was created. Keep the receipt.
At a branch: bring a valid ID and your MID number; staff will process the enrollment and give you your MP2 account details.
What you need for online enrollment: Pag-IBIG MID number, a valid ID, a selfie (for verification), and proof of income or source of funds if your deposit exceeds ₱100,000 (see below).
Minimum contribution and deposit rules
- Minimum: ₱500 per deposit. There is no required monthly amount — contribute monthly, quarterly, irregularly, or as a one-time lump sum.
- No maximum stated in the current terms, but two anti-money-laundering rules apply:
- A single payment above ₱100,000 requires proof of income or source of funds.
- A one-time payment above ₱500,000 must be made through a personal or manager’s check.
- Payments can be made through Virtual Pag-IBIG’s payment partners (e-wallets, bank channels), over-the-counter partners, or branches.
Dividend rates: what the numbers mean
Pag-IBIG declares dividends after each year closes, once net income is computed and approved. Recent declared rates:
| Year | Regular savings | MP2 savings |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 6.62% | 7.12% |
For 2025, Pag-IBIG distributed a record ₱64.34 billion in total dividends — the highest in its history, per the Philippine Information Agency.
Two payout options:
- Annual payout — you receive the declared dividend each year.
- Compounded — dividends stay in the account and earn further dividends until maturity at year 5.
Honest caveat: 7.12% describes 2025 only. The rate moves with fund performance. Do not build a household budget assuming MP2 will always pay 7%+.
MP2 for OFWs
OFWs can enroll in MP2 and remit from abroad through Pag-IBIG’s accredited channels. The mechanics are the same: ₱500 minimum per deposit, 5-year term, tax-free dividends. Because the mandatory OFW contribution is small (2% of declared income, capped), MP2 is where many OFWs put meaningful savings — but remember the 5-year lock-in. Keep copies of every remittance receipt and confirm each payment posts to the correct MP2 account (not your regular savings) in Virtual Pag-IBIG.
Withdrawing: maturity and early withdrawal
At the end of 5 years you receive your total savings plus all credited dividends. Early withdrawal is allowed under certain circumstances (such as total disability or other qualifying grounds), but withdrawing early can mean reduced dividend earnings — MP2 is designed for money you will not need immediately. It is not an emergency fund.
Troubleshooting
Payment made but not showing in my MP2 account. Posting can take several days depending on the channel, holidays, and system updates. Wait, then check your MP2 record in Virtual Pag-IBIG. If it still has not posted, prepare: proof of payment, payment reference number, the MID and MP2 account number used, date and amount paid, a screenshot of the transaction, and a valid ID — then follow up with Pag-IBIG.
Payment posted to regular savings instead of MP2. This happens when the wrong account number or payment type is selected at the payment channel. Keep the receipt and request a correction through Pag-IBIG — and double-check the account number before every future payment.
Cannot enroll online — identity verification fails. The usual cause is a name mismatch between your registration record and your ID (“Ma.” vs “Maria,” missing middle name). Use the exact details from your MDF/registration.

How much is the minimum deposit for Pag-IBIG MP2?
₱500 per deposit. There is no monthly requirement — you can deposit whenever you want, as long as each deposit is at least ₱500.
What was the MP2 dividend rate for 2025?
7.12%, the highest declared in the fund's history. The 2024 rate was 7.10%. Rates are declared yearly and are not guaranteed.
Is MP2 better than regular Pag-IBIG savings?
For returns, historically yes — MP2 dividends have run higher than regular savings dividends. But MP2 is a separate voluntary enrollment with a 5-year term, while regular savings are mandatory and long-term. Many members do both.
Can I open more than one MP2 account?
Yes. Members commonly stagger accounts so maturities line up with future expenses (a house down payment, tuition, etc.).
Are MP2 dividends taxable?
No. A Department of Finance clarification confirmed that savings in Pag-IBIG — MP2 included — remain untaxed.
What happens if I miss deposits?
Nothing punitive. There is no monthly requirement and no penalty for skipping. Your existing balance simply keeps earning the declared dividend until maturity.
Is there an official Pag-IBIG MP2 calculator?
Pag-IBIG does not publish an official MP2 earnings calculator — the third-party calculators you find online are estimates, not Pag-IBIG figures. Use them only for rough planning, and remember the dividend rate changes every year, so no calculator can predict your actual 5-year return.
How can I estimate my MP2 earnings myself?
Pag-IBIG computes each year's dividend on your average monthly balance, not your year-end balance — money deposited in January earns for the full year, money deposited in November earns for about two months. A rough compounded estimate: take your expected yearly deposits, apply a conservative rate (say 6%, below recent declarations), and compound over 5 years. Example: ₱2,000/month (₱24,000/year) at a flat 6% compounded for 5 years grows to roughly ₱135,000–₱143,000 total — an estimate only, since real rates are declared yearly.
